LGM. An additional entry that almost immediately came to my mind:
All Shook Down by the Replacements. It's the Mats last record and essentially Paul Westerberg's first solo album, but the band's trademark drunken vigor makes even the mid-tempo tunes rock, something that's missing in Westerberg's later work. The lap-steel guitar work on "When We Began" is a treasure, as is the lyric
"Off with their heads, and on with my pants!"
which, given that the record was released in 1991, can also be seen as a harbinger of the Clinton years.
